ATHORA Insurance, a leading insurance and asset management company in the Netherlands, has a long history of continuous change, including mergers, acquisitions, and shifts in strategic direction. With the global financial crisis approaching, cost reduction became a key priority.
Enterprise Architects Kees Tuijnman and Jan van Gijsen recognized the need to rationalize ATHORA’s application landscape. While existing enterprise architecture models offered some insights, they required richer business data to make effective cost-reduction decisions.
In 2007, ATHORA selected Bizzdesign Horizzon to address these challenges. The platform enabled the EA team to combine data sources such as application lifecycle and financial information into a centralized repository. This repository evolved into a business-critical body of knowledge, supporting the creation of dashboards and roadmaps that guided rationalization efforts.
By leveraging Bizzdesign Horizzon, ATHORA achieved an estimated 24% IT cost reduction in 2017 and provided crucial input during the acquisition by AnBang Insurance Group. Today, Horizzon supports ongoing transformation and is trusted by leadership as a single source of truth for decision-making.
